Can Anyone Wrap A Car? (DIY How-To)

We’ve all seen videos online of professionals wrapping cars. With that, I’m sure you have also seen the comments saying things like “my toxic trait is thinking I could do this.” To be completely honest… they’re not wrong.

Learning how to wrap a car is one of the best skills you can learn as a DIYer. You’ll save thousands of dollars just by installing it yourself. But the biggest plus, you’ll be able to transform your car’s color whenever you want for a fraction of the cost!

To get started, it’s important to have the proper tools and setup to wrap a car as it can make your wrapping experience much more enjoyable. Things like a wrapping knife, squeegee, heatgun and even the temperature of the room have a huge impact on your wrapping experience. Make things easier to do, you’ll thank yourself later.

Visualize the task panel by panel rather than overwhelming yourself by thinking about the entire car at once. Start off with smaller, flatter panels to give yourself some practice and to gain confidence. My personal favorite to start off with is the front fenders. This will give you practice on laying vinyl wrap down, cutting, and tucking the edges.
